Palau del Vidre village home: The village.
The village of Palau-del-Vidre hosts 3200 inhabitants. It extends entirely on the plain of Roussillon, near the beach, vineyards, and Pyrenees hills of the South of France.. The north of the village is bounded by the coastal Tech River. The south of the territory has a natural wooded area (Villeclare forest). Outside the agglomeration, the majority of the lands are agricultural (vines, fruit trees, salads in particular).
You are right in the center of the historic village center, near cafes, restaurants, bars, shops.
On the charming Place del Gall, you will find “La Galerie”, where you can discover various exhibitions, painting, sculpture etc.
The Church of St. Mary of the Assumption of Palau del Vidre has many treasures. Two Gothic altarpieces of Flemish inspiration, dated from the middle of the 15th century, a Renaissance altarpiece, rare objects, the mysterious Opening Virgin, the tabernacle of Honorat Rigau, the 16th century embroidered screed in Barcelona. Paintings, sculptures and liturgical fabrics that trace an exceptional historical journey, in a completely renovated church.
A kilometer south of the village, you will find the Château de Villeclare, famous for its wine production, with its chapel.
And of course, the lake! A haven of greenery and a real moment of relaxation for walks or picnics.
Welcome to Palau-del-Vidre !
